Term 3 D.A.T’s “Where In The World”

This term at school our D.A.T theme is Where In The World. What we do in this terms D.A.T is we are getting information on a country from around the world. we have weekly tasks and they are that countries Flag and Map, an A3 and bigger poster, Maths Graphs of things like population and things like that, a Multicultural Day Lunch were we have to get a traditional recipe from that country and then cook it for your grade, a Travel Brochure telling you about accomadation and land marks, and then a Getaway Production which is making a Getaway movie about your country. I am going to be talking about one thing from the weekly D.A.T’s and that is the A3 Posters. the A3 posters concist of lots and lots of onformation about your country that you then paste onto your poster. you can also put on pictures and borders.

P.E – Basketball

For the last few weeks 6AH and all of the other Grade 6 grades have been learning Basketball skills. For the last fortnight of the Basketball program all the kids will be split up into teams of about 8 people. My team is Tevan, Lucas, Jake F, Jake K, JD, Liam, Paul and I. We won our first game 15-6 but we lost the rest of the games by a lot of points. But otherwise, it was a lot of fun testing your skills in a game of Basketball and I think everyone had some fun. 2D & 3D Shapes By Tevan Nofi

Wednesday the 17th we learnt about 2d and 3d shapes. First we name 2d shapes 1 to 20 sides and vertices. They had some tricky names like icosagon. We had to draw irreguar shapes which were 11 to 20 sides and vertices on dot paper. You could draw anything you like as long as it was 2d and have the right sides and vertices. I enjoyed learning the names of different shapes and how many vertices they have.

Mad Day by Taylah Finn

On Mad day it was about looking after our plants. Most of the grade sixes got a role of leading the little kids around. All of the leaders got a name and it was somewhere in our school. The activities were Painting Pebbles, Create a Creature, Enviromental Bingo, Leaf Rubbings, Find the Plant and Read and Draw. It was a full on day, it was also hot and the little kids were getting a little restless. It was very fun and we had to be careful that we didnt leave any kids behind. It was really good.

2D Shapes

2D Shapes – by Paul Clay
On the 15th of February we did a maths rotation in our class with Miss McRae. There was four activites in the rotation. The first activity I did was with the tangrams. We got to make a picture out of the shapes, and then name them. The second activity was with the Construct-O-Straws. We got to connect the straws together to make 2D shapes. After you made a shape, you had to draw it in your math book with its name, how many sides it had, how many vertices it had and how many angles the shape had. In the third activity, you got to colour in the shapes in the picture. For example, all of the circles could have been coloured blue. In the last activity, you trace around 2D shapes and then list the shape’s name, sides, vertices and inner-angles.
